But in jonesg's case, if the rust is locking up the threads, I'm wondering if a thread chaser may help, but how would it fit in tight quarters?
torch would have been good, i wire brushed the threads and greased it, came off ok.
mounted the strut in a vice to keep my fingers out of the coil.
death stick spring compressors worked ok, its all reassembled, it test drove good.

That is scary!

Spent an enjoyable afternoon helping my buddies son with his S60 2.5T AWD. He needed help figuring out how to swap the brake light bulbs out and also he thought a headlight bulb. Brake lights were easy on the S60, way more so than the XC70 we have. The headlight bulbs he bought were the main beams, what had actually failed was the small parking light bulb on the LHS. What a performance to get that out. We had no idea until I remembered I had a spare set of matching headlights. A quick look and we saw how it was held in. Accessing it was another matter! We ended up removing the whole airbox to access it! Even then thankfully the owner is smaller than me and could get his hand into it. By chance (as you do!) I have some new bulbs. So quickly fitted and rebuilt and all good.

Always enjoyable to help a young enthusiast when you can. Hi dream car? A Volvo 240................

Using this handy MVS resource...
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/a-lis ... eir-codes/

I have finally determined that Black Betty is #019-23, "Black Stone."
The clearcoat is fading badly.
Your color code is to the right and down one line from the VIN on the plate under the hood. Usually "XXX-XX" where the XXX is the paint color code and the XX portion is the paint manufacturer.

Either today or in the coming days I will be replacing my front passenger fender because the pain or coat got badly damaged and it formed some kind of crust or something. A significant discoloration.

I got my replacement with the same paint code 426-26. Are there any...specifics or traps one should avoid when doing this?

I installed a new fender 3 weeks ago, looked at all the videos, sanding and priming and sanding and said screw that.
It was already primed black, volvo color was a slate grey or something.
I wiped ithe dust off and sprayed it. Light coat first then heavier.
Slight difference due to weathering
but I dont care.

i pulled half the bumper and wheel well liner off to get at front bolt.

What did I do to my S60 today? Apologize to my torque converter.

Ugh, embarrassing. Some may recall my mentioning transmission slippage at ~75mph with a slight load and adding Lubeguard stop slip and HFM to the transmission. In fact it appeared to be getting better, and fix it on my last 250 mile trip—until yesterday. I stopped and plugged the scanner to check codes…well I’ll be danged if it didn’t have a P0163 fuel rail pressure sensor code. Then it hit me—the fuel system was cutting out, there was never a transmission slip all along. Never had a check engine light.

New Bosch fuel pressure sensor fitted tonight and hope it resolves the issue. Cautionary tale to not get to focused on one path when diagnosing…just glad I found it when I did and didn’t spend a lot to get there. One upside—my transmission has never shifted better!

In any case, Lubeguard extended your transmissions life or at the very least didn't hurt it.

I on the other hand have my Lubeguard Platinum stuck at customs. And it's terrible paperwork I have to send to clear it.

I am noticing some slippage within the gears. ATF Temps rise too quickly from a simple 100m hill compared to just a year ago. And 3rd gear feels like it has less power. And in third gear between 3500 and 4000rpm I feel the rpms rise quicker than the vehicle speed or as if lagging behind.

after replacing the upper strut bearing I decided to recheck the alignment, set string up on both sides, made sure the width between the strings was the same on both sides at the front and back of the car,
measurements from the string to the wheel rim front and back of rim was still well within spec.
