When I replaced the exhaust: no gasket on turbo outlet, but I had a metal gasket part 26 in the pic that should go after the manifold. I damaged mine while installing and left it off. Would always bind up somehow and I gave up.

In the P80s and early P2s I've worked on, I have never encountered one with a gasket between the turbo and down pipe. I too was confused about it at first, but the more reading I did I realized it was normal. And I haven't seen them leaking enough to hear/smell/feel.

Bit of tinkering today and painted the 6 Torx bolts that hold the plug-lead cover in place. Not sure why I never done it sooner as I did the V70 ones last year

I collected my Volvo sign from the powder coater yesterday, he tried 3 times to apply two colours but had trouble getting a crisp line so gave me it back in silver and I sprayed some blue onto it today, I also had trouble with the line but once the paint has hardened I should manage to remove any blemished with some thinners

I have had a look at the parts drawings again at higher magnification, and it now looks clear as hausmeister and Bdub have clarified, there is no gasket between the turbo and the downpipe to the cat. It looks more like a cup and seat type seal. If you had issues with worn or pitted surfaces, a little gasket sealer should fix that.

Thanks to you guys for helping clear that up!

Fuel pressure regulator finally and along with it I got a new thermostat and thermostathousing gasket (water marks visible on mine).

Thing is I can't see a simple way to tackle the thermostat housing. Pull the P/S pump aside? Remove the alternator? Seems near impossible to acces the bottom bolts.

Late to the chat, but there *is* a gasket available for the angle-flange turbos (maybe even the straight flange ones too).

I have one on both of our cars (16T angle flanges to 3" DP).

Was there one from the factory? I dunno. These cars are WAY past that point.

It is legal as long as you don't get caught!

There is a gasket on the FWD cars, but not on the AWD from what I can see. But interesting that there may be another option.
