I believe my tumbler is worn and needs replaced. Key spins and I have to "work" it to get it to engaged and start the car. I am looking to replace it. rather than ordering one from Volvo I am thinking about using the "antenna hack" to get around it. I will get a 2nd antenna, tape the key to it and tuck it under the dash.I would replace the key cylinder and just have 2 keys for the car, one for locks and one for ignition. here is my question:
Can the cylinder be removed from the collar, or does the whole collar need to be removed? I have seen some videos on removing the collar, but none on that remove the cylinder from the collar. If the cylinder can be removed from the collar is there a procedure or how to?
thanks

Saw your PM, sorry, I’ve been on heavy travel.
You generally take the antenna collar off and tuck it under the dash withe the key taped up inside.
Getting the lock cylinder out is a lot more work, you have to Dremel the two security screws to release them, then replace the cylinder and steering wheel clamp. To release the lock tumbler you have to drill holes into the cast aluminum piece and squeeze an internal lock ring to pop it out.
