Hi All, I've got a 1998 V70 Turbo Project Car. I got it minus an engine but relatively intact engine bay. Dummy me got a '99 motor instead of '98 so I have attempted to convert it by putting distributor on & removing CDI - since car and ECU was set for Coil&distributor If anyone has done this please advise
So far I can crank it - but no ignition - I may have a bad coil and wires - thats next. But in the meantime I need help on someting else!
There is a wire with 2 conductors and quick connect end, that comes out of the wire harness just below the coil and behind the airbox on drivers side. I cannot for the life of me understand what it would connect to - I don't have any open connectors.
FWIW - this car seems to have factory wiring and bits and pieces that dont match up to anything on videos or manuals. Here are pics of the offending wire: Thx
1998 V70 What does this wire connect to??

Plug that thing under finger into spark generator coil to have spark.
Sorry i couldnt resist.
If i am not wrong as i just today played that area that connector goes to MAP sensor IF it would be 10V engine but i am not sure on Turbo engine layout would that placement have similar connector to other sensors.
Edit: Wait i go check as MAP sensor connector can be different colour even. argh
Update: NOPE! MAP sensor cable came much earlier and i dont have this cable in picture.

Volvo had a connector for diagnostics that was located in that area. Not sure if that is the one or not. I have a 97 850 in for work today so I will take a look and see if that is the same.

could be cam position or intake/throttle position sensor or whatever they call it. The larger wire looks like the 6th “spark” plug wire that goes from where your photo is then into the distributor cap

It could go to a number of different sensors.
If you already checked the maf the other ones on the top of my head that I can think of are
Idle control valve
Can shaft position sensors
Turbo control valve
Then there may be some other similar ones closer to the radiator but off the top of my head think those are different connectors

I have another 2 wire connector plugged into that valve - if I swap, then I'm still left with another extra connector I'll see where that one comes from.
Many thanks

Only there thing that I can think of is there may be under the battery tray. Think that’s where the cruise control is but not sure if that’s all vac or there’s a connector too but might be something else over there too.
