Was super careful with the VVT rotation triple checked it etc., but I will check it again when I take it apart this weekend.

Did not lock the crank but had the harmonic balancer off, very sure it stayed on the mark.

Back of the cams did not break. Yet.
Those CAM hubs are tightened to 120Nm so when you loosen (or tighten) with that level of force Im not certain how you can do that without moving the cam shaft out of timing. Love to know if/how you ever found vida dice procedure for timing and cam adjustment...
You lock the cams in the rear of the motor with a ….drum roll…..cam lock tool. Tighten those long 10mm bolts finger tight, don’t use a tool

(my bad I was unclear - I was trying to be polite and ask how HE loosened the bolts without a camlock tool - I dont think its possible without the tool and I would never try without the cams firmly locked)

That is the spec. Those are Big bolts. I hope you came close to 120nm and/or used locktite cause you definitely do not want those camshaft adjusting hubs coming loose!

I used the cam tools to lock the cams.

Cam timing was all done mechanically. The crux of it is that they must be fully clockwise from the front, when the cams are locked at the back. I used VIDA later on to check the timing, but not to adjust it.

I did not use loctite. I had set my torque wrench to 120nm, I tightened it a lot, but it never clicked at the time, and I was too scared to continue.

I have been driving it for 2 years now so...

Unless you are like 50 kilos, 120 nm is not that much :)

Saved from the shop. !
those O2 sensors should give indication of a problem, maybe you'd need to drive with vida hooked up under load to see it.
