PCV off to clear oil pan? 2006 XC70

Post by xc70VanIsle »

I currently have my PCV and intake all taken apart and discovered the oil pan passage is blocked. Can I reinstall the intake and PCV and do the oil pan cleaning on its own without having to take everything apart again?

Yes you can. The oil pan job is pretty easy and straightforward. Make sure to get all the parts and seals required before you start including anaerobic sealant. I used permatex for the pan to block.

So Theres no reason I'll need to remove the breather box again?

It usually plugs down in the pan, doesn’t it? Where the channel makes a bend?

Once the bend in the channel (down in the pan) gets clogged, I think it usually fills up quickly to where the pan mounts to the block. They're either plugged to the top or still free flowing, in my experience.
