Secondary airpump relay. Volvo 850 1995

Hello.
I have a couple och Volvo 850.Great cars that allmost often work without problem.
But now i have a small problem with my secondary airpump or proberly the relay. Get a error code blink that says that the airpump relay dont repond. Have to check it and proberly replace it.
Now to my question. I know where it is but what is the easiest way to reach it?
Is it to remove battery and battery plate och is it from left wheelhouse and take away the inner screen?
Please give me a hint.

I haven't worked on the airpump relay for a few years, but my memory is that if you remove the plastic shield that covers the bottom of the engine, you can reach the airpump and the airpump relay, which is attached to the bracket that holds the airpump.

The air pump can also be accessed by removing the battery and battery tray.

The air pump usually fails when the valve on the exhaust manifold fails allowing condensation to drain into the SAS pump flooding it out. I recommend drilling an 1/8" hole in the bottom of the plastic casing over the pump vanes to allow condensation to drain.
