I would move it before tearing into anything, don't wait for it to warm up.
After everything is hopefully fixed run cataclean through it.

"High mileage" oils cause seals to swell. Carbonized piston rings can't be cleaned in any other way but mechanically, and it takes a lot of efforts to do so. In your case oil was dripping into cylinders via valve stem seals.

Ty Vtl: It has run on Pennzoil 5W40 for 8 or so years with a yearly oil and filter change around 6000 miles. I would love to share with you what I'd see with Borescope.
