New project ‘00 V70R

Post by TommyR »

New project car I got in a trade. So far looks pretty clean, little rust that I’ve seen crawling around the car so far.
Needs some TLC and some small repairs but so far so good! 🤞🏻

Paint doesn’t look hateful, these are nice pocket rockets. Take a good look at rear suspension as those parts aren’t available anymore do you have to scramble junkyards. Good one up in Billerica up North.

FCP for parts if it’s a long term runner of course

What’s the yard up north called? I’ll have to check it out. I’ve looked already and it’s going to need a rear swap bar it’s got some rust!

Overall the car seems to be in suspiciously good shape. I do plan on keeping it for a while. Car is mostly rust free and the body is in good condition.

Going to start ordering some parts to get some maintenance done, combing through forums now trying to track down PNs. Specially for the engine which seems to be a one year only model.

Check on IPD USA website. It is the only one that lists the engine correctly. If yours is the same as mine it is a B5244T2. Label on the timing belt cover is hopefully still there to confirm. Otherwise you have to look up how to read the stamped numbers on the back of the engine near the water pump.

If you get stuck, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Indeed the 2000 R model is special and comes with many special things …

On the Volvo parts diagrams there is often a little box labeled SW for Scottish Swearwords

Maybe Holland’s junkyard in Billerica ( that’s pronounced bill-RICk-a ) if you aren’t from the Bay State, readers

Be really careful with the two eccentric bolts on the rear panhard links, you can’t buy those anymore. Heat that nut off and don’t exceed. The installtoque trying to remove it , cut the nut instead.

Neil and his 2000R rear axle thread is required reading. It’s linked in my 1999 awd resurrection thread for Ekaterina, a modest effort compared to his 2000R thread

It is a B5244T2 checked it Sunday while I was giving the car a once over.

Thank you! I’m sure I’ll have some questions once I start tearing into it.
