1998 s70 t5 Oxygen sensor compatibility
Happy New Year everyone! My S70 has recently started reporting P0171 fault codes, and it also had a previous issue with the oxygen sensor circuit, which I didn't repair. I'm planning to replace my front oxygen sensor, but parts for older Volvos are very hard to find in my country. I've seen someone selling a brand new, genuine S90/960 oxygen sensor; the connector seems the same as the S70's, only the wiring harness is a bit longer. I'm wondering if this oxygen sensor (from the S90/960) can be used in the S70, or if there are any alternatives available?

I am having difficulty finding the upstream O2 sensor for the S90/960, only the downstream/rear one for some reason.
However, IPD who are pretty good at identifying the parts and what uses them lists the sensor as not suitable for a V/S70:
https://www.ipdusa.com/products/23968/O ... bs=997,994
Actually from the IPD website I found the OE Volvo part number:
https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/ ... 25581.html
Volvo also shows this as not suitable for the V/S70

I've seen universal front oxygen sensor compatibility models on IPD, including 960/850/S70. That's why I'm wondering if specific models can also be interchanged between vehicles since the universal type is compatible with these. This is just speculation. Thank you for your reply.scot850 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026, 08:27 I am having difficulty finding the upstream O2 sensor for the S90/960, only the downstream/rear one for some reason.
