Problem solved today. Turns out the TRQ CV shafts I installed are not tapped as deep as the originals. So when I torqued the shaft bolts at the wheel hub they were bottoming out, allowing the shaft to slide back about 1 cm — just far enough the sensor was not picking up the tone wheel. Ugh. I had checked bolt torque but never gave the shaft a pull for any slack…

Interesting the CV shafts were put in 5000 miles ago and this just cropped up. They do not come with bolts so I reused the old ones. Shorter 10.9 flanged bolts from my farm supply store 2 miles away and it is sorted.

I also identified my liftgate root cause. Cable that attaches to the latch mechanism was broke so $85 eBay replacement on order.

A spare key is most painful…covered here on the forum ad nauseam…$440 for a fob or $113 for a valet key PLUS $224 to program either one. With an AirTag on the only functional key I may roll the dice. Just can’t swallow $337 for a spare key on a $1500 vehicle.

Nice work. Looks like you will remain one of us. One of us. One of us....

Are those fob prices the yagger price? Or dealership? I believe it was closer to half that to have it done remotely by him.

Break the ignition lock, so it accepts even a screwdriver. Glue your the only remaining key to immobilizer antenna. This is what I did years ago.

You have my attention. Any threads with the info? I will have to search it up. Good info to have to get out of a jam potentially in the future.

Disassemble the lock, toss the steering column lock into trash bin, grind the tumblers off, assemble back.

You need either a Dremel with cutting disk almost worn out to do a flat screwdriver slot in two shear bolts in order to unbolt the lock. Some folks were able to use a punch, but Dremel is easier/faster.

How do you ensure it doesn’t get stolen? Or is the strategy to put full coverage on it and hope that it does?

Steal what? A 20 years old foreign car that is not known for reliability or any remaining resale value? :)

As far as any potential thief knows, you locked the door and the car has fully active steering lock system that came with it new.

This reminds me of Volvo's radio codes and the thousands of hours of aggregate owners' wasted time in the last 30 years trying to find codes. Who is going to steal a double-din factory radio?! No matter how good they sound, they're DOUBLE DIN.
