Tried one of those cheap combustion gas head gasket testers
The included fluid is so basic that it needed vinegar added to change color at all.
Validating the fluid with my breath and with a vinegar and baking soda reaction did not change color.
I'll try again with a different fluid
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

My friend foggy put the axle shaft back into the AT, took off the frozen viscous coupling, and added 2 liters ATF. I flew down to his house and drove it home

I do not ***think *** these carry high pressure - I think they just shuttle fluid back from the low pressure side to the other as the rack turns. That might mean you could cut, flare, and then use PS hose with double oetiker clamps to repair - maybe?
Whatever they were, it sprayed out violently without the wheel being turned at all, I didn't even think of the "roll your own method", they do look just like brake lines. I have another rack that has one of those lines damaged too, maybe I'll try that first and have a good spare.
Today the mystery with the 2000 grows, yellow label etm came off, yellow label etm off a mystery engine went on, all I know it had a turbo. Car now starts and idles and drives but throws all these codes.

All started when he cut rear the O2 sensor off while the car was running because it was dragging.
For me by looking at the story what happened.. you might have shorted power supply inside ECM which powers various sensors. You might want open it and take a look. I dont know is there fuse in between and in theory should have though.

So there's another power supply in the canbus ecm which would have such an issue? I'll take a look.xanthefin wrote: 28 Apr 2026, 15:34Hi!jsrnsis wrote: 16 Apr 2026, 15:52abscate wrote: 16 Apr 2026, 08:24 Definitely can be replaced, probably make them up with NiCopp and fittings.

On another topic, is anyone going to be at the FCP show at Limerock Park this Sunday? I can't believe it's already going to be May.

Is there a link to the Limerock event not involving Facebook or Instagram? I can’t visit those as Taylor Swift stalks me there for my T5 and bdub for his Miata…

Bracket holding the serpentine belt tensioner and bolt holes to power steering pump, has a pulley on the bottom of it. I think the bottom bolt hole might be for a bolt to the alternator. Is the pulley on this bracket removeable? Then, if it is, what is the pulley called or have a part number?
I'm in the process of re-installing a few parts after finding the source of an oil spray that covered the alternator and a few other parts. This bracket was covered in hardened oil, but is a little cleaner now!
Appreciate your replies!

Check this drawing:

The drawing shows the bolts has a plastic cover over it, although your version looks like the cover may be smaller.
