1998 v70 fuel rail / pressure regulator

Add me to the confused fuel pressure regulator searchers. The photo is of the first injector and ??? is that really the fuel pressure regulator between 1 and 2? It looks nothing like the regulators for sale. Bottom line... is that the fuel pressure regulator for 1998 V70 base model?

It's fuel pressure damper.

Fpr is in rear right wheel area...near fuel filter.

Thank you for the info. Now that I know it is a damper at the fuel rail I'm going out to see if I can find the FPR. ...Dale

Good luck. I have a different model and year than yours, but for what it's worth on my '97 855 the FPR is located between the firewall and the engine, just above the steering gear on passenger's side.

Thank you all for the info. I'm leaning toward misha's thoughts of the FPR being back near the fuel filter somewhere.

Interestingly, I no longer think the FPR is the problem since I can start and run fine for about 2 minutes then no restart. Sooooo, now looking to get at the crank position sensor. I can see it with my phone camera but can't figure out how to get the air box out. I am not seeing three clips holding it down. If I don't figure it out I'll get some pics. Thanks again... Dale

A 1998 is the transition year between full vacuum operated FPR and the “Return lacking fuel pressure regulation” …this puppy relocates the FPR back near the evap canister near the rear right wheel. It has a tiny 10 cm long vacuum hose that tees off the evap canister purge line

If your evap canister is on the driver fender , you don’t have the return lacking system. I *think* the evap canister in rear and return lacking Fuel pressure regulation come together.
