I recently replaced the Blower motor on my S70. I tested the motor on the bench before install and it was strong. I did not replace the resistor. I am not 100% sure but I sort of feel like the fan is not blowing as hard as it should on high (slider all the way to the right). Now to be fair its 91 degrees with humidity in ohio right now, but i feel like it should be moving more air.
The fan speed increases and decreases upon command with the slide button as you would expect but i feel like i used to blow harder.

is it possible that the resistor is not opening up the fan to full speed? How would i test this possibility again if even possible.

Check the cabin air filter- replace if dirty.
"They used to make them better" can be said about many parts even if you replaced Behr oem unit with new Behr made in Turkey. So without knowing exact amperage consumed by "new old" unit and comparing it to your current one, it will be hard to tell. If you replaced high quality oem woth nissens, pro parts Sweden or other cheap aftermarket- be happy it is working and dont look further.
In most cases fan is changed with new resistor, but if money are tight, i understand risking a little and keeping old unit.

If you have the slider you have ECC which uses a transistor pack and modulation to control fan speed, not a resistor pack. Those don’t fail. I would check the cabin filter and also recirc mode which bypasses the filter

I respectfully disagree, failed on my car a short time after I had to replace the failed fan. Mind, I did replace the fan as soon as I noticed it making issues, still probably killed the control box. But the fail was different, it only ran low speed, nothing more.

There was a report from a while back (2012) that 11-15A is a typical range for current draw on a blower motor for 850 / S70 / V70:

If you have a meter capable of measuring relatively high currents, you could check the current draw thru the motor and see if it's in range.

I might have caught the fan current in the bus current thread…stand by

Btw, I just found the part number form my order back then. If you are able to remove the motor from the blower cage, you can buy just the replacement motor: BOSCH 0 130 111 134
That is what I did on the 1995 850 back then.
