2006 v70 vibration issue

My 2006 v70 has a noticeable vibration only when going up hill at higher speeds.I checked the torque mount and control arms. The rubber is worn but not broken. Ball joints don't have any movement.134000 miles.When driving on a flat highway there is no vibration. Accelerate up hill and I have the vibration issue. Any ideas?

So the difference you describing is load. Going uphill will be putting much more load on your transmission and engine than on flat surface.
Prior to doing any tests with monitoring oxygen sensors long and short trims, i would opt for an "easy" start.
Check air filter- assure clean. If dirty replace(if it is dirty, it was time to replace it anyway, so no loss here. Just maintenance).
Switch to a different gas station with top tier detergent gasoline if not already using one. Make sure you are using premium fuel(I like my 90 non ethanol since my cars are sitting while not in rotation, plus it is better for fuel system anyway).
Put good injector cleaner inside the tank(I like royal purple, but people might have different preferences). Do it with every full tank for 2-3 times to make sure gunk is out.
While with the injector cleaner in the tank- give it a good Italian tune-up on a highway to clean the system and remove carbon deposits.
When the last time you changed your fuel filter and spark plugs- if it is time- do it.
If not done recently- transmission fluid drain and refill with proper fluid.
If despite above you still have issues, then lets talk scanner, monitoring fuel trims, etc.

Please explain why rear end? It is v70 likely without awd. What would be in the rear suspension that woukd produce vibration only on uphill? I could not think of logical explanation what would be vibrating.

Can you please explain what to look for. Please educate me on cause-effect relationship between going uphill and rear end. I have 2 XC60s that had broken rear springs, and both drove great without any vibration or sagging(typical failure point for xc60 since springs breaks at lower end). Why this issue only present uphill? What to look for: sticking caliper, e-brake shoe catching inside rotor, proper tire size/wear/pressure? If we are thinking weight distribution, then why this issue is not present after some luggage is loaded in trunk and/or cars accelerate rapidly. Both would result in center of gravity shift, sorry its been a while since I open physics book(never was good at it either).
I am still thinking that engine load is a key here with transmission shudder likely being the issue. Please take me to the class and explain what I am missing in this puzzle.

2forty, the symptom you describe is very often associated with a bad CV axle. Can you tell if the vibe frequency increses/decreases with wheel speed?
