Driveline vibration 2016 XC90 T6 164k miles

New tires. New brakes and rotors. Recent alignment. Recent tire rotation and wheel balance. Still having some vibration issues at different times.
1. 50-80 mph feel a lot of vibration in steering wheel whether accelerating or cruise control. Feel vibration in steering wheel.
2.When slowing to a stop I feel on off vibration in steering wheel as well. Mostly off but then about 5-10 mph I feel it briefly again.
Is not horrible shaking or anything just some rotational vibration.
Couple things to note.
I have heard very quiet clicking when turning wheel at a standstill bit no noise while turning and moving. May not be relevant to my issue.
At some most times up to 50mph I hear nothing
Felt the center of rhe wheels after driving and driver side feels hot to the touch while passenger side only felt warm. My wife has the t8 and I dont feel any heat on hers but it could be because of something different with the hybrid models.
I am really trying to figure out if I may need wheel hubs or axles... or both. Or do I need to once again try to get a wheel balance in case they did not do at my last one

I did. No rips or tears whatsoever. Boots look perfect.

Hm. A bit of labor, but maybe switch Fronts to Rears and see if the vibration is still in the steering. Then you can rule out wheels/tires/balance.

I think Im going to try that first. I recently got the lifetime alignment and wheel balance/rotation at shop by me but I wonder if they may have not actually balanced the wheels. Ill start there before I tear things apart. Thx mucj

1. Road-force ballance tires.
2. Was your problem present prior to brake job?
If the hub was not properly cleaned, chances are vibration is from rust/grime there. What brand rotor/pads were used. Sometime part can be defective from the box.
3. Doubt calipers/sticking brake pads at this time since you woukd be reporting that one side is warmer than other with your touch test.
4. Great suggestion from Matthew about rotating front to rear.
5. Check torque on the wheels. Sometimes one-two might be loose..
6. Old fashioned jack it up and shake everything around. I still doubt hubs given no reports of bearing hum type noise.
7. Long stretch, but maybe RF axle support bearing(doubt).
Lets check the basics first. 164k for 2016MY is a great result.

I will try all of this. Issue was present prior as well. Additionally I previously had shaking in steering wheel which is now gone since I got new rotors. I was in a pinch on the rotors and went with Carquest Professional rotors. They have generally been good in the past.

Vibration is an annoying problem. If your search will not be successful, I would opt to change the rotors/pads for oem/oe. Fcp has couple good kits usually and their warranty is exceptional. I usually buy oem, Zimmerman, brembo or bosch rotors(from highest trust to lesser). For pads:oem, pagid/ate, brembo, maybe akebono(in the past they were noisy for me on 2 tries. I understand that new dust regulations are responsible for that, but haven't bought them since).
I dont trust parts from Advance,Zone, Pep boys...unless i am in a situation where alternative is not available. Wire wheel attachments for drill, work great to clean hub mating surface and around outer perimeter. Coat of copper anti-sieze or spray of fluidfilm/krown between rotor/hub works magic for rust prevention and future work. AGS, AtE, permatex make great quality lubricants for pads, sliders. I prefer torque wrench nowadays for all brake related bolts(likely overkill, but i view it as evolution on my end).

So I did the road force balancing and rhe results I got were as follows.
Left Front 20
Left Rear 25
Right Front 25
Right Rear 3
Discount tire said anything under 35 is acceptable

I am not a ASE mechanic but...
