Ok, nice

What still worries me is how to install the damper motor correctly so that the blend door is in the right position on the square drive of the damper motor

I had the same question when I was re-installing mine, and what I did was rotate the blend door almost all the way clockwise and I set the damper motor almost all the way clockwise using a 12V DC power supply (you can use a 9V battery instead).

@jreed

I think this is the best way :!:

Can you tell me which side of the damper motor corresponds to the clockwise direction?

When I've opened it, should the small gear be at the top or the bottom?

Yes, this is a good question and I really had to think it through when I was doing the reinstallation. I rotated the blend door clockwise as viewed from the footwell of the driver's side. Then I rotated the shaft of the damper motor clockwise as viewed from the back of the damper motor. Note that when you are looking at and facing the shaft on the damper motor directly, from that point of view you have to rotate the shaft counter-clockwise.

Ok Nice,
Okay, if it's lying open in front of me, then I have to turn it counter-clockwise.
Unfortunately, I don't know yet which direction it is.
Check my photo. I attached the gear by hand. The sliding contacts are now located where the red mark is.

Here's what my old damper motor looks like on the outside face with the shaft that contacts the damper. The blue arrow points to the most counter-clockwise position of the shaft. This is the position you would want to have the shaft if you are going to rotate the damper to the most clockwise position.

I took a photo of the gear on the inside too, after removing the damper motor cover.

@jreed

Damn, this is the full end position ?? :o

But the track is much longer than the end position. I thought the end of the track was also the maximum end position

Are these two black notch lines on the plastic cover an indicator for anything?
It looks as if they indicate the end positions of completely cold and completely warm

I thought that, too.

Maybe hook it up and run it carefully and check operation ?

Added more description to title , will add part numbers

Yes, I think the two lines on the plastic cover mean something. I really hope that removing and installing it isn't difficult.
