Hello, I have a 2012 S60 that won't crank. I verified that the battery is good and that power is getting to the starter. Using a wired remote starter (positive on the battery and to starter solenoid), I verified that it would crank over. I assumed it would be the start/stop switch after that. However, I replaced that and it still won't crank. when I insert the key fob and press the start button there is a sound that resembles a pump but otherwise nothing happens. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hello.
Assuming you were able to start the car via applying 12v to the bendix- you eliminated problems with actual starter(to a degree) and your engine is not seezed.
Not it will be a great time to figure what of 4 engines possible you have and move to wiring diagram.
Hopefully link will work for you(great many thanks to scot850 for it). Page 84 and 85 would be your starting points.

Find fuse/relay box. Check fuse 11b/34. Then remove starter relay R12 or 2/35. With good test light of about 3-5 amp(fog light bulb) test presence of 12v+ at leg 3(30)please small t-pins here not to spread the connector. If present- through your test light "bridge" terminals 3(30) and 5(87). If your light will turn bright- you have a problem with short to ground on 5(87) wire. If your starter motor engages with "bridging" the 2 terminals- your wiring is intact at this side.
Next- see if any of the relays around look the same and have same number. Try to swap starter relay with something that is not as important(for example defroster or similar). Try ti start the car. If no improvement- your problem. Is in control side. Can also possibly move gear selectro to Neutral and see if tge car start in this mode(if yes- look at the gear selector wiring). Ideally you need a capable scanner tool see if crank is requested, brake pedal is engaged...
If you dont have a scanner and can afford $300(towing and dealer 1 hour diag fee) i would suggest to send to dealer at this point. If you are willing to play more with it- you will need access to a alldata DIY and read about theory and operation of the starter system with focus on remaining 1(86) 2(85) legs if the relay.
Good luck
