1999 S70 GLT - fuel filter query

yours being a 99, I'd have expected your car at rest to be in the mid to high 50's psi. When you initially turn the key you should see that level, but once you start, it may drop down into the low 50's to high 40's psi. When you switch off the engine it should hold the pressure for at least 30 minutes. Only example I have is a C30 T5 I was helping with, it held mid-30's even a day later.

Update:

after being parked for 24 hours:

initial measurement: 14 PSI
after turning the key but not starting: 20+
starting/running: ~over 55PSI


I will measure in about 30 mins to see what i get

Ok,

when the car is running im over 50 PSI (using cheap pressure guage that only goes to 50). it maxes out the guage and then some. I figure between 55 and 60 but the guage may be at it end. ANyway the running pressure seems good.

However once turn the engine off and check it immedlately i never go above 20 PSI. I tried it 3 times, same result.

does that point to a bad check valve?
