S60 Trailing arm - bushings only?

Hey all,

I'm helping a friend out, who has a 2012 S60 T5. They have myriad suspension issues, and got a breathtaking quote from a shop to do it all, so I've been working through each time for them - just did tie rod ends, for example.

The most serious issue, though, is the trailing arms, specfiically the bushings, one of which is completely shot. As it typical for parts like these, they're mostly sold as whole units; the complete trailing arm assembly with a preinstalled bushing. *but* I can get the bushing alone for substantially less money than the entire huge assembly.

Before I risk that though, does anyone have or know of experience just replacing those large bushings instead of the whole arm? The arms are huge, strong metal parts, there's really nothing wrong with them except the bushing rubber is pretty much gone.

I've done ones like this on other cars before, but I also know of ones where replacing the bushing alone is nigh on impossible, hence selling the whole unit.

Money is a huge issue here, so I need to find the least expensive path.

Wrong forum, 2012 is P3. P2 rear subframe bushings have been replaced by many owners successfully. You need a good selections of tools (sawzall, propane torch, air hummer, bushings press sleeve kit) and be creative about it. Also get new bolts.
