What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Volvo 30753767 for 2003- on, are we sure they don’t fit?

P/N 30753767 is the complete wiper blade, while I am just looking for the 16 inch refill.

Well the good news is the 05 V70 has left my garage under it's own power. That was a bit of a bear but with eager young owner to help we got the 2nd side done really quickly compared to the first side.

Before he got here I had replaced the license plate light and tailgate latch handle assembly. Had the same 'fun' getting the rear wiper arm off as the front ones. Only real pain is you have to be careful not to damage the spray assembly for the tailgate as it is fitted inside the spindle.

Anyway got it all remove, and swapped over and re-installed all the rear panels. The rear panels and more will have to come out again as the whole of the headliner will have to be replaced as it has somehow been water damaged at some point. We will have to remove it and leave it out for a while and try hosing the roof it see if there is a sunroof drain issue like Abscate had on his P80. Then replace the headliner with a good used one.

Hopefully the V70 will go for a re-inspection for the Out-of-Province Inspection as all the issues have been addressed in the next couple of days.

Then we will have to create a punch list for a stage 0 on the car which will include the timing belt and water pump. Also the hood and tailgate struts need replacing. More fun to come!

Pulled the alternator out on a risk when I got the power system failure dash report, and battery icon
Brushes are gone, new one on order from FCP. Looks like thermostat needed as well

Had a great visit with BlackLab467. He has been busy recently so we had not had a catch up in a while.

He came to collect his 'free' Volvo OE hitch which had been taking up space in my garage for a few weeks. I got it for him as he has been looking for one for a long time. Another friend with a 04 V70R had called me to see if I wanted it as it had no harness but he no longer needed it as he has no intention of pulling stiff with his R. Perfect as BlackLab267 only wants it for a bicycle hitch. My buddy remembered I had told him I had a new Hutchison front engine mount for a V70R/S60R I had been sent in error and the supplier told me to keep it. So good swap and both of us were happy.

He also mentioned he had issues with the volume control on his HU-850 head unit so I gave him a unit I pulled for someone else who them decided to fit a HU-650 instead. Hopefully it works as I currently have no way to test P2 audio stuff yet. I hope to be able to find a way to wire a hook up to my P80 set up to be able to do this in the future. I guess the HU-850 is the equivalent of the SC-900/901 head unit for the P-80 cars that has a similar reputation for being more fragile.

Still researching the wiring harness for the amp for the HU-850 to find where the power wire and ground go to from the amp. I think it may run up to the fuse box behind the side panel on the driver's side dash board. It looks like it may run to fuse numbers 10 and 11 for the power wires, but not sure where the ground ends up. Both seem to run across the back of the dashboard wiring harness. I don't have the energy to try to pull a P2 dash at a junkyard to finally confirm if this is correct.

I just realized that 850 in your forum name is perhaps for HU-850, not Volvo 850 =) Half of recent posts were about HU-850.

Actually the 850 came from the first Volvo I bought after moving to Canada from Scotland was a 93 850. I joined MVS not long after looking for help and that is where the scot850 came from.

It is funny though, as you said my recent posts have included a lot of questions on the HU-850. In this case it is trying to see if they can be swapped into a car with a HU-650 unit or older possibly, just because. I have hopefully proved that not only can an HU-650 be swapped into a car with a dead/faulty HU-850 with no programming, the heating controls also seem to be able to be swapped too. Not sure if they are backwards compatible to 01-04 P2 models yet!

I have a few P80 radios, amps and harnesses to connect them in my stash, so I built a test rig with the 8 speakers and wiring hook ups so I can test radios/amps/speakers so if anyone needs them I can pass them on tested. I was thinking of doing a similar thing by modifying the P80 set up to be able to connect P2 stuff up for testing. That for now is on a back-burner project, maybe for over the winter.
