The outer CV boots on my 850 wagon (117k) are showing some age cracks in the grooves. I would like to replace the boots before they open up and start throwing grease.
If the grease has not been contaminated with dirt, do I have to wash out all the old grease with solvent (a messy job) or could I just wipe it off and repack it with new grease?
Also, the boots sold by fcpgroton are made by CRP. Are these good, or would I be better off getting the Volvo boots from the dealer? I don't want to have to do this job twice, so thanks in advance for any replies.
