s80 fuel hose replacement

Post by fredss80 »

I have a 1999 s80 T6 that has a hole in the engine side(engine side at the fuel filter) fuel line. Does the gas tank have to be removed to replace this hose? I have exposed the fuel pump by removing the rear seat. Any help or short cuts would be much appreciated! Thank you

Welcome to MVS. To begin with, let me say that I know next to nothing about your car- only stuff I've read on these forums. However, if you're saying that it is leaking forward of the fuel filter (found near the front of the car- passenger's side), then with the proper disconnect tool (available at most auto parts stores) you should be able to replace just that portion of the fuel line up to the engine. Apparently there is no fuel return line as fumes are dumped into the intake on your car (that should make things a bit easier, maybe). Also, be aware that many times it's just an 0-ring between portions of the line so make sure you really have a hole in the line before buying the line that you need. I have access to VADIS but it really shows no r&r for the part of the line you speak of. Anyway, I'm posting up a picture of the lines in your car with part numbers. The grayed out number is your particular part number for line #9 (what I suspect). I also suspect that the fuel filter goes between #9 and #11 but I could be wrong on that. If in doubt, call the dealer- the parts guys, if not busy should be able to look at the same diagram on their computer with you and confirm what I'm saying. Oh, and the first part number that comes up for delivery pipe (#6) is the correct part number for your particular car (the others are for later model S80's). Hopefully, you can figure things out from here:

Thank you for your replay. The part being replaced is actually #11. The leak is at the lateral "T" near the fuel tank at the top to the diagram.

Ah, well, that changes everything then. It looks like there are no real short cuts...the whole thing would have to be replaced...or at least you'll have to buy the whole thing (one part number). Not sure exactly where the fuel filter fits in this then. Does it fit in somewhere near the "T" ? Maybe between sections I mentioned earlier goes the charcoal canister? I'll look for a write-up on this if you can be more specific of the location you're actually going to have to work in.
I was able to locate this, if it helps:

EDIT: Also found this- doesn't look like you'll have to remove the fuel tank or fuel pump but at least parts of this from VADIS might help you:
