I need to take out the headliner in my 95 sedan to access my sun roof.

I can't figure how to remove the two (2) "CLIPS" that secure it near the rear window. Typically, most of the plastic trim has become brittle with age and I don't want to just start prying and such since they seem to support the entire rear section.

Anybody know this one??

MIJ...

wow... You are a volvo library.
I am going to take on the task in about two weeks of doing my wife's headliner. A 98 v70 which should be identical to an 850 wagon.

Would you happen to have a parts diagram for the wagon?
I may want to pick up some of the clips from volvo as a precautionary measure since I do expect to destroy some of the retaining clips upon removal.

Thanks
Eric

Guess you got lucky....I have the parts diagram for the '98 V70 and was able to convert it to PDF (as print screen)...best thing about this is you can zoom in. I tried to cover the basic part numbers (on the right), but all of them didn't fit. If one or more is missing, let me know- I can tell you what they are. Btw, the square clip at the back doesn't seem to exist on the V70- lucky you!

Any idea how to get them out without damage to the clips or headliner?

Man, if I knew, I'd tell you. My first inclination is to pinch the posts on that square job...it's worth a try. If you hear it crack then lay off...but you've got to get it off one way or another anyway, right?

They've got like a 1/4 flange on all 4 sides....I don't know. Got me puzzled!

I guess one option is to call the dealer and ask them... They may tell you, especially if you have a relationship with them. If not, take them a box of donuts after the first of the year and just hang out and shoot the breeze with them and ask them...it works, ask me how I know!
