Welcome to MVS.
Water? How do you know it's water? Antifreeze, maybe, but water?
Also, specifically from where? Back of engine is a bit vague.
We'll try to help- just tell us more.

The previous owner took bad care of it I picked it up very cheap. Looks like it could be a freeze plug or a head gasket but I just don't know what to do. Whatever it is, water or antifreeze, its leaking from behind the exhaust manifold. Im planning on taking the exhaust manifold off. Good idea or no?

No, I wouldn't do that...most likely it's not coming from within the manifold...you'll do all of that work just to find that out. See if you can use a paper towel and dab it up... does it have color? If so, what color? The reason I ask is because there is a coolant line back there and I'm thinking that it is leaking- in that case color would be slightly green.

Don't drive it. How much is missing from your expansion tank?
Definitely the coolant hose. You need to get it fixed.

I suspect that #15 gasket is bad and needs replacing and retightening. The part number is located in the right pane of the diagram below. Not sure of the tighening torques and you need to make sure this is the correct place of the leak. If not #15 then 0-ring #16 might be the culprit.

dont think that is it

no the water is poring out from behind the manifold even when its not cranking and i cant seem to see it. something tells me its a head gasket but there is no oil in it. and no water in the oil what do you think

ps: thanks for all the help so far
