the check engine light started flashing

Post by tera29 »

I LOVE my VOLVO ;) today I experienced a horrific breaking down of my precious car, can anyone help me figre out what is wrong- When pressing on the gas the car started sputtering and feeling as though it were going to stall and the check engine light started flashing and in the message board it stated to slow down speed or upshift gear? I had it towed to the dealer so I can pay $112 for them to plug it in but I really dont want to and I certainly can NOT afford for them to fix it :(
So sorry I am in a 2002 S60

No idea what type of Volvo you have, etc. but I had the same problems exactly until I changed the MAF sensor. It ran perfectly after that.

I agree- sounds like a MAF sensor. My S70 did the same thing when it went.

Well you didn't say what year and model you have, but it could be the ETM which is warranted 200K miles and 10 years.
This warranty is for 1999-2001 Volvos only.

You will have to have them pull the codes to see what's wrong. You can't go blindly installing parts without having a clue as to where to look!
