Re: 850 N/A car will not start, no sparks from 2 plug wires
So today it was warm a little 38*F and it started after a few sputtering. I let it warm for a while. I turn if off, came back to start it and it will not start again
It went back to it's same tricks, crank but will not start.
Any ideas and or suggestions?

Have you pulled the codes from ports A-2 and A-6?

The '93 to '95 models have a real slick on-board diagnostic system. Here are the details:
http://volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php
Some cars use both A-2 and A-6 and others just use A-2. Try to interrogate both ports. Have a pen and paper on hand to write the flashes down with.
Yes, they do have a distributor, it is on the US driver's side of the block and it is run by the intake camshaft.
Pull the codes and post them back, at that point we can all stop guessing.

In the description for reading the codes it say "put the jumper into A2..." Does the wire go from that point A2 to a different point or just that point?Ozark Lee wrote:The '93 to '95 models have a real slick on-board diagnostic system. Here are the details:

The "flywire" or jumper wire goes to the point that is being interrogated. Each port monitors its own system on the car. In your case you need to plug the wire into A-2, read the codes, and then try to read the codes in A-6. You may or may not have any readings in A-6.

Hi, when you get familiar with the OBD A2/6 you can try the test modes as below (good luck), br Tapsa:
Diagnostic test mode (DTM) 1
DTM is activated by a brief operation of the test button. The MFI module responds by displaying a DTC as perDTC table
Erasing DTCs
The DTCs may be erased only when all have been displayed at least once and the first DTC has been repeated.
Press the test button for at least 5 seconds. The LED will light 3 seconds after the button has been released. Press the button again for at least 5 seconds.
DTM 2
DTM mode 2 is activated by two brief operations of the test button on the DLC, causing the LED to flash rapidly. The ICM will deliver an acknowledgment code on detecting a change in the signals from:
-RPM sensor, as flywheel/carrier plate rotates (1–4–1)
-CMP sensor, as camshaft rotates (3–4–2)
-Speedometer, as front wheels rotate (3–4–3)
-MFI module, when TP potentiometer is activated by throttle operation (3–4–4)
DTM 3
When DTM mode 3 is activated the ICM responds by operating the following components, in the order listed:
Chassis Nos. –30699:
-Engine cooling fan, at half speed, for 15 seconds
-Engine cooling fan, at full speed, for 15 seconds (fan runs at half speed on cars without A/C)
-15–second pause
-V–VIS solenoid valve, for 5 seconds
-5–second pause
-Rev counter in combined instrument, for 5 seconds, by generating engine speed signals equivalent to approx. 1500 rpm
-5–second pause

I couldn't get any code out of A2 or A6. All I got from both A2 and A6 were 1-1-1. So I tried the other ports.Ozark Lee wrote:The "flywire" or jumper wire goes to the point that is being interrogated. Each port monitors its own system on the car. Long ago though when the problem initially started I saw the check engine light. But yesterday when the car started, the light wasn't not there. When I took out the battery is it possible that it cleared the codes?
