floor jacking or lifting a Volvo S60
floor jacking or lifting a Volvo S60
Didn't see any posts on the subject but I would like a tip on jacking up an S60. I have a service jack - like a floor jack but narrower. When I jack up a unibody car, it crushes the seam at the jacking point. Does anybody have any tips so I don't do this on my S60?

On our XC70, in the front I use the sub frame at the point where it bolts to the body under the cowl and in the rear I use a beefy area of the body in front of where the rear suspension attaches. You have to kneel down and look under the body to see both locations. I always use a floor jack or a lift. Not sure what a service jack looks like?
If you are using the factory supplied jack use the lifing points indicated in the owner's manual. The purpose of the jack is for changing a tire. Your only lifting one corner of the car up at a time and the lifting point is designed to accommodate the jack for that purpose. If you are using a lift or floor jack you want a location that will support a lot of weight.
