service light reset help

94 850 NA, followed directions I found here, but after 4 presses of the button, the LED does not re-illuminate. I had the key in the "on" position but did not start the car. Any advice on a next step?

Make sure you are in socket A-7 and try to alter the speed that you press the buttons. It is fairly deliberate, I think my cadence is about 3/4 of a second on, 3/4 of a second off....

You can't hurt anything by messing with it but turn the key back off in between any unsuccessful attempts to reset the system.
