XC70 2001 Rear axle oil check
XC70 2001 Rear axle oil check
After reading of numerous problems with bevel gear failure on these cars I checked mine and it seems okay, just needs a little top up. Having got the car up I guessed I should check the rear differential. I can see what looks like a filler plug on the left side high up on the diff casing. Is that where the oil level should be and what grade of oil should be used in this and the bevel gear?

If JRL doesn't check in, you might want to ask this question (or better yet, do a search) on www.xc70.com If I remember correctly, it's best to pump the oil out of either of these differentials and then add new oil...also what each one takes is different so make sure and get the correct fluid in there.
