Time to replace distributor cap?

I have a '98 Volvo S70 with 101,000 miles on it. I am planning to replace the spark plug wires (getting a lot of engine interference on AM) and was wondering about replacing the distributor cap at the same time. Necessary? Waste of time? Thanks for your thoughts !

I can't say... never done it. But you're sure to get that psychological effect of more power.

I would highly recommend replacing your distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and high tension wires. With over 100,000 mile on them they have served a good life, all these components will fail in time, why be left stranded. Besides you will probably see an improvement in easier starting, and maybe improved fuel milage.

What are the high tension wires? Do you mean the coil wire? Thanks !

Yes, the high tension wires are your spark plug and coil wires
