Re: New Modified Transmission Flush Method with Pictures
Just curious- I'm going to do a drain and fill on the '94 850 I picked up with 190K miles on it....I don't think it's ever been flushed. For those not using Mobil1 Synthetic ATF, what are you using?

I'm using Valnoline Maxlife ATF, its works great for my n/a (only has 165k on her). You can find in Autozone or Pepboys.

Will it mix okay with the factory fill? Oh, and the "stop leak" feature of the Maxlife ATF bothers me. If it stops leaks, there's a chance it could clog passages in our transmission...at least that's what my brain tells me.

Thanks! I'm more inclined to go with the Castrol product.

Noooo, not the "stop leak", just MAXlife Dex ATF.MadeInJapan wrote:Will it mix okay with the factory fill? Oh, and the "stop leak" feature of the Maxlife ATF bothers me. If it stops leaks, there's a chance it could clog passages in our transmission...at least that's what my brain tells me.
PS: I just checked my bottles it doesn't have "stop leak" on it. Are they different? Now i am confused.

How does this method requiring a tube compare to the tubeless method as posted at https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/tips.php#transflush2 ?
The tubeless method seems so much simpler and for me that saves me time and money.
I still need to locate a new aluminum crush washer dimensions unknown. I called 3 Volvo dealers and none knows the actual size of the washer that they sell.
Does it matter if the washer is copper instead?

The crush washer is the same as what's on your oil pan nut... I'm surprised the dealer wouldn't tell you. No, actually, I'm not- they don't want you messing with this so they can. If you don't have time to order one, the external diameter is same as a quarter and the inside diameter is the same as a dime.

Each of the three dealers only claimed to know the crush washer part number.
So has anyone tried the hose less flush method? (See link that I posted previous)
