Who makes the OEM Spark Plugs?
the VOLVO Dealership in Seattle wants $60 for a box of 5 spark plugs for my 2000 VOLVO V70 T5 (non AWD). I need to know who makes the OE plug for this car (Bosch?, NGK?) . And second, I need to know the part number of a plug that is copper and pre gapped to the right specs that will go right in this car. Appreciate your help on this in advance. Also, what is the oil capacity for this car with oil filter replacement? Thanks. Also, anyone know a place online that sells the plugs for cheap?

If it's like the 850/V70 up to 2000, they are Champion, gapped at .028 inch.

Any of the three sponsors (top of the page) will have these, (probably at far) less than $60.

Turbo cars have Bosch as the OEM I believe--the latest pack I picked up for my 99 S70 turbo were "Made in Germany" and had the markings I'd expect to see on a Bosch plug.matthew1 wrote:If it's like the 850/V70 up to 2000, they are Champion, gapped at .028 inch.

After researching, I believe you are correct and more specifically that they plug is the Bosch FR7DC or 7555 (replaced by the 7955 which is copper and iridium but you can still ge the 7555 if you look hard enough). I am going for copper here and not platinum, otherwise it would be FR7DP. If anyone thinks I have been given the wrong information please feel free to correct. Otherwise, thanks.VCA wrote:Turbo cars have Bosch as the OEM I believe--the latest pack I picked up for my 99 S70 turbo were "Made in Germany" and had the markings I'd expect to see on a Bosch plug.matthew1 wrote:If it's like the 850/V70 up to 2000, they are Champion, gapped at .028 inch.

I think it's BOSCH,but i always buy genuine VOLVO with 3 pipes.It's a set of 5 spark plugs.I change them about 70-100k km.Last time i replaced spark plugs after 75k km,and they wasn't worn much.
But that's for genuine VOLVO.I believe that for NGK,CHAMPION...etc,replacing interval is about 20-30k km.

I agree- the OEM is probably made by Bosch...I say this because of the markings and "made in Germany" on them- same as another poster. That said, the Bosch copper work great on either non-turbo or turbo cars. On the turbo you'll just have to change them more often, but so what- they are typically less than $2 apiece.

I went with the copper, specifically the Bosch 9755 super plus copper version. $3 a pop at Napa. Here they are on Amazon:

I was assured by the tech that these were pre gapped to fit the V70. Can anyone confirm this? I have a 2000 V70 T5 2WD. Thanks.

Assured or not assured (in writing or by word) I still check the gap on every plug- it helps in preventing problems down the road and having to take the plugs out and doing it somewhere where you might least prepared to do it.

On the P2 models ('01 and newer) Volvo actually says 0.03 inches for gap on turbo and 0.028 on non-turbo but I go with 0.028- I feel the car runs better. If you are boosting more than stock on your turbo, go down a bit more, maybe to 0.026.
