Misha,
In answer to your question on the oil trap box (why can't I just clean it up?). Mine was clogged and 1/3 or so full of a fairly hard black material. It might be possible to find a solvent that would dissolve the stuff. I didn't try because I had already ordered the new trap and hose kit. The hoses on mine were pretty brittle; at least one of them broke off when I removed it.

The same hard sludge was present in the engine openings the trap was connected to. I scraped the sludge off with a screwdriver, and verified the holes were open down to the oil sump by probing with a flexible line (an old hood cable).

Can you remember wat was the code on your oil separator box, 1271988 or 9146756?Is your car non-turbo?If it is non-turbo and have engine serial number after 330413 then you could help me to solve dilemma about which one will fit to my engine because both boxes have 2 hoses on up.
Guys at ipdusa telling me that box#9146756 will fit to my car,but that part is for engine# UP TO 330413,mine is 890337.
For engine#890337 box#is suppose to be(according to their catalog)1271988.
Looks just like this, but is says that is for '98 only, for s,v70,mine is '97 850.

My car is a 98 V70 AWD turbo and the oil trap looks like the one in the diagram, number is 1271988, so I can't help with the non-turbo. However, here are a couple of pictures of oil trap.

That's my point!
The diagram i posted above is for NON-TURBO model,box#1271988,and it fits to TURBO.
That's why i can't determine which one will fit to my engine!
The only way to know for sure is to remove intake manifold to see,but there's a big problem because shipment will arrive in about 2 weeks min.

Maybe you could see in there with a "mirror on a stick"? Try using a mirror and a strong light.

Good luck!
A mirror is also useful to see if the holes into the block are open.

Ok guys,i read somehow the number on my pcv box. It's 1271988  like the one for '98 s,v70 NON-TURBO-mine is '97 850 NON-TURBO!
I managed to read only smaller number,#927 which indicates pcv#1271988.Here's the picture:
I used my cell phone and video clipped with light on.Don't ask me how i did it!
My arm looks like i've been in fight with cats(all scretched up!)
BUT,i did it and i'm glad that i didn't order wrong pcv box.
P.S.At all on-line stores catalogues,pcv box#9146756 is indicated as for '97 850 NON-TURBO!And the pcv box#1271988 is indicated as for '98 ONLY :!: s,v70 b5254fs!
Hhhhhmmmm  .
