From Washington DC /OBD-P1633/P0455/P1171/P1181/P0442

Hello Matt and Everyone else out there,
I have a 2000 Volvo S80. I need to know what I can do to fix the problem to all these OBD Codes: (P1633/P0455/P1171/P1181/P0442)

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

P0442 & P0455 both point to a leak in the fuel system which could be something small like the filler cap not being tight enough to a leak in the tank, filler pipe, EVAP canister, EVAP canister shut off valve or any of the lines between these components. I would start with the filler cap, replacing the cap or the seal on the cap.

P1171 & P1181 both point to a problem in the fuel delivery system. This includes intake air leakage, high fuel pressure, leaking injectors, defective Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or defective heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).

I can't find any reference to P1633 for the S80 in any of the engine types.

P1633 is a vehicle speed sensor code. Usually this points to a failing ABS module.

Hi, I just read and consequently was able to fix the P1171 on my 99, S80, all what I did was get a Mass Air Flow cleaner from advance Auto, sprayed the sensor, reset the code and ever since got the smoothest, trouble free ride, I have spent too much and was almost getting to spend a whole lot on it, the dealer told me I have to change the computer and quoted me $1300 for it and so on but was blessed to have read another thread and got this solution and did me good !!

I really like to hear that Volvo dealers' profits are being reduced by this site.
