S60 Radio problem

Post by ppitts »

2001 s60- radio stopped playing, CD player still works, all the knob selecots work- steering wheel selectors work. Radio does not play- no sound. checked fuses all is good. Stumped since CD player is working. could it be the antenna? if so, how can I check?

Also considering changing the head unit anyway to upgade to a MP3 unit- any recommendations?

Thanks!

I have a 2002 - posted recently about swapping the head for one with an Aux port. Nothing yet - but this is the best forum, so if there is an answer it will be found !

My 2002 S60 radio also does not play. Great CD, tape (with ipod) etc. but radio has no reception. Took to volvo dealer (reluctantly) - no luck, they could not figure out what was wrong. Since it is out of warranty I just said I would deal with it.

I recall there was a TSB on AM radio reception. Dont recall one on FM.

There is an antenna amplifier, do a search. I believe it's located in the right "c" pillar. Can't remember where I read this maybe it was under am radio reception articles, could have been on sweedspeed.com or volvospeed.com forums. I would also check all fuses in the trunk. I have a wiring diagram for 04 S60 which shows the antenna amplifier fuse to the left of the battery but not in REM it appears that battery removal is necessary to access these 7 fuses and no. 3 is the antenna amplifier fuse. Also after car ignition has been off for 15 minutes unhook battery for 15 minutes then turn ignition switch to run and reconnect battery, this may reset something affecting radio.
