1997 850 T-5 idle

whenever I start my 850, the idle goes to 2500-2800 RPM, then will come down to a normal idle, and idles normally until the next time I start the car. Any suggestions?

That's normal- secondary air pump allows more air in and your ECU is compensating for the increased air.

what about erratic idle when waiting for a traffic light to change? No problem with acceleration or driving at a constant speed.

New plugs, wires, cap rotor, fuel relay, fuel filter, vacuum lines all replaced.

Secondary air pump sometimes comes on sitting at a light...so yeah, it could be fairly normal as well. I know mine does that a bit... not bad, but noticeable.
