Timing and code issue 2001 V70 2.4t

Post by jshwhite »

I have a 2001 V70 2.4t. I have had a check engine light on for a while. I scanned it and it read "P0014 Cam position actuator B-Bnk 1 Timing over advance." I have cleared the code a few times and it always comes back after just a little while. I did some research and it seems like everyone who had this problem found that it was a timing belt off a little. Yep, that's me. I changed the timing belt a while back. I thought I got it right on, but I must not have. The car has also been a bit sluggish after I replaced it, so that really seems to indicate that that's the problem. Now my question is, how do I set it correctly? Is there somewhat of a procedure I can go through to get it correct? Any help or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

Go to this thread and on page 2 scroll down about 1/2 way. There are 10 scans of the Haynes manual that tell you how to do the work and make your own locking tools.

Thanks so much. It looks like that should help a lot. I'll probably do it this afternoon, and I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.

Thanks again,
Josh

OK, I just finished it. The belt was a tooth off. I corrected that and checked and re-checked everything. Runs like a top now. The check-engine and service lights are off and the engine is not sluggish at all - runs like a different car.

As always, this is such a great site! Thanks so much to everybody! Keep up the good work!
