V70XC '98 Passenger side axle/transaxle

Post by KenC »

Ok, that's the best description I have... when under the car tonight, I noticed (among much other mayhem) that on the passenger side front axle, there is a threaded ring that surrounds the axle shaft that looked crooked in the case - like I could see into the transaxle...I know it's not the best picture, I was trying to keep it small for upload.

Is this supposed to be like this? Or is this yet another issue with my car?

Not yet. I was putting it back together after dealing with the heater hoses...while poking around under there I saw this issue and just wanted to learn about it...

Then next time I drive it, it is to a dealership to dump it. Just makes me sick. The whole deal was that I used a bonus to buy the car - no debt - and the company is looking at moving me to a car allowance instead of the company truck (so they pay for all my personal gas too :D ) so I bought the Volvo thinking I would have no debt & a car allowance = $ in my pocket 8) . Now I'm looking at trading it in and no more bonus left :( = car payment.

Well after you do all that work to fix it up, you might as well drive it.
