S40 2002 the car doesnt stay running unless i give it gas
Hello, I have a S40 2.0T 2002 car and it doesnt stay running unless i give it gas. I did a computer test that showed a problem in the MAF sensor, and after unplugging the MAF sensor is keeps running but when i come to a stop the rpm is lower than usual and the check the engine light is on. I changed the MAF sensor to a new one but still the same problem. I had another computer test that showed 2 problems; one is "mixture adaptation faulty or time not expired" ?!!! and the other is "idle control signal not in range". yet still when I unplug the MAF sensor it stays running and the check engine light is on and after i turn off the car the fan keeps going for a long time even after i take out the key. could it be that the new MAF sensor is also not working should i replace the idle valve?? please help
be careful when you unplug the maf as the car runs abit hot,i found that happened when i unplugged maf on my s60 2001, check the spark plugs and clean the throttle body,i did need to change the maf on mine but engine was eratic in performance and not taking trottle till i dropped a gear or 2,once i changed maf those problems went away,if you are still having problem i would look more closely at the trottle unit hope this helps
