Did Bosch make defective fuel pump sensors for the 2005 S40?
I'm driving a brand new S40, and the check engine light is always on. Service techs say it's because of a faulty fuel pump sensor by Bosch, and that everyone's having problems. Trying to figure out whether I'm getting a line of BS, because I haven't read/heard about the problem elsewhere. Car's been brought in twice, part's been changed out, and replaced by other "faulty sensors."
Anyone else having a similar problem?
2005 S40 DEFECT???? Topic is solved
Same thing happened to me but my dealership said it was a problem with the computer and they have to reprogram it. They turned the light off and it hasn't come back on for a week or so and I haven't gotten it reprogrammed yet but will soon

I've had the same trouble. the below message is what I've received from Volvo so far.
Thank you for your mail. Of course we understand that you are concerned, however, we would like to reassure you that there is no safety aspect linked to this issue whatsoever. I know that we are waiting for a new software and that it will be available to be downloaded mid-end March. Please talk to your dealership and ask him to send a Technical Report via TIE to the Plant Vehicle Team (sort of technical hotline and helpdesk) here in Sweden. I have heard of this problem before and it apparently only concerns US specified cars and it has something to do with the sensivity of the US specification re fuel specification. The problem has never happened in the US and it only concerns new cars.
I am terribly sorry and I do apologise for the concern you have been caused. As soon as I have more information I will revert to you.
Have a nice weekend
Jeanette
