1993 240 Arm rest removal

Post by 240Dad »

I am a newbie to Volvos so please forgive the simple questions. I am sure they will get more complex as time goes on. I bought my daughter this 93 240 for her 21st birthday and I am trying to clean up and fix up before I turn it over to her. I need to replace a speaker grille and need to reinforce the panel before attaching the new grille. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to get the arm rest off. I can get the lower portion off but not the top. Please see photo.
Thank you for your help.
Bill

Look up under the handle for a screw (see photo). If you don't see one, I think you'll have to remove the whole panel from the door first. It looks like there are two other screws in the lower part of the armrest (not shown in your photo) that need to be removed (according to the VADIS parts diagram).

Thanks for your advise and diagram. I took the three screws loose in the lower part of the arm rest, two behind plugs and one exposed in the front. Then, based on your diagram I decided to turn the whole thing. I turned it clockwise about a quarter turn and out it came. It has a metal ear on it that fits int he hole. Simple but hard to figure out the first time.
Thanks again,
Bill
