Help. I have a 2005 S40 Non Turbo. I love it, but I have been having an issue with air conditioner. It only works when I am driving on the highway for long distances. In stop and go traffic it does not blow cold air. Before I take it in to be fixed I want to do my homework and understand what is wrong when dealing with my mechanic. Any insight?

Have an A/C person check your gas pressure in your A/C system. To me it sounds like you might just need a can of R-134A (the gas in your car) added.

I have the same problem on my V50 and the dealer just charged it yesterday. It did not correct the problem. Just had someone tell me it could be damper motors which are new equipment only in 2005 or later.
