2002 S60 - Loss of power

Post by redray1988 »

I have a 2002 S60 2.4T and recently I have been having trouble with my car. The problem is that sometimes when driving, I will lose power when accelerating and it takes me at least 2 minutes to get up to 60, and I have a top speed of 65 when flooring it. I originally thought that it was the mass airflow sensor but the problem is very sporadic. It happened once and then didn't happen again for 2 weeks when it acted up twice. I haven't had any trouble since the last time so I am unsure of what it could be.

I hooked up my car to an OBDII reader and I was given codes P2127 and P0234.

If you have any suggestions of what this is or how to fix it please let me know, I am tired of feeling I have no power.

hi,had that type of problem about a year ago and had to replace the maf which cured the loss of power problem, wouldnt look anywhere else until this part was checked, tap the area round the maf lightly in idle andlisten to revs, since it only happens every so often its an annoying one to track down but id say its that delicate maf, hope this helps

I know the second code is an over-boost code...first one I don't know- if the MAF is acting up, you'll get some strange turbo codes, so I agree...check your MAF...no, try cleaning it with spray on, MAF cleaner- don't touch the element inside- just let it drip dry and see if things improve. If not, then you may need a new MAF sensor.

iEquus shows the first one as: P2127 Generic Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "E" Circuit Low Input

That would make sense given your symptoms. I believe this is the "fly-by-wire" sensor on your throttle pedal.

It's volvo part #30683516 and costs about $100.
