Non activating door lock

Post by amazon »

Recently my left rear (passenger) door does not lock like the other doors when I lock the car (850 wagon) either with the key or the button on the key fob. Where do I start? Am I looking for a bad connection? faulty actuator? corroded ground?

It could be any of the problems you describe. You need to start at the lock solenoid with a voltmeter and work your way back.

So there isn't a common point where leads branch off to each door-lock that's easily accessible? I was hoping to avoid taking the door panel off first thing.

The door panel is easy to get off and on...
Like Lee said, you'll have to get in there to see what's going on- most likely you'll need a new lock solenoid. I too have the same problem on my front driver's side door but it seems related to heat or direct sunlight on that particular door- after I've driven with the A/C on for awhile, it works again- seem I need to get into mine now- for now, I just use the key to lock it when it's not working with the FOB.
