1992 960 wagon air flow meter not working

Post by doc397UD »

Bought part used from wrecking yard; first one didn't solve the problem, replaced with another from wrecking yard; no luck with it either. Is there some adjustment that must be maid after installing the part? Could two parts likely be both nonfunctional? Is there another diag for the same symptoms listed for he air flow meter?

Any advice appreciated.

How does it run? How does it run without any MAF plugged in?

One quick way to test if the MAF is faulty, is to start the engine without it connected, if it runs better, than most likely it is the MAF.

What was the engine running like that made you think it was the MAF? A common killer of the MAF is the heater pipe valve is opened to allow heat to be drawn from the exhaust manifold.

Are you getting any codes? Is the check engine light on?

Thanks for answering. It does run better with it unplugged, but not "normally". Check engine light is on and off, intermittent. It will start but runs really rough, and will race and/or choke out.

Have you read the codes? What are they?
