Hello,
A few weeks ago my wife's water pump gasket leaked. We purchased a new gasket set and installed it. The vehicle leaked coolant this past weekend and it looked to be coming out of the pump area again. After investigating it, the small bolt that attaches to the coolant pipe was not tight enough (it might have not been tightened completely. After tightening the bolt, we filled the coolant reservoir again and started the vehicle.
Upon starting the vehicle about 2-3 cups of clear water came out of the tail pipe along with carbon type deposits. Some drip drops of water continued until the car warmed up. It achieved temperature and ran fine. No engine problems and it has been parked about 40 minutes without any coolant leak.
I am confidant that the bolt being loose was the problem with the leak. The water coming out of the tail pipe has got me a little flustered. Any ideas what caused this ? I am concerned that this could a symptom of a head gasket leak. There wasn't any oil in the coolant that was removed nor was there any on the dipstick.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated !
Thanks,
Patrick
