V50 D Timing Belt change?

Post by badger1971 »

Hi, I'm a nubee to the Volvo world, but just changed from a BMW to a V50 2.0D SE with lush interior and goes like a train and looks the dogs. Anyhow, I have a query and wondered if someone could answer, my car has quite high mileage, 55 plate, 82k/s on it, the garage assure me that the timing belt does not need changing until 140k's can you concur? I have the fear as my current BMW Timing chain went wrong and cost me £700! many thanks :|

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

This site is based in the US and 55 plate means nothing to most of the members. Better to give the year. Of course, I know what you mean :D

For the D4204T the timing belt change interval is listed as 144,000 miles or 10 years whichever is the sooner.
