2001 XC70 intermitently won't start

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and have owned a 2001 XC70 for just over a year and have loved it. Recently, however, I have been having problems starting the car. When I put the key in the car all the electrical goes on, but when I turn the ignition I hear a click and the car goes dead. I wait for about 5 minutes and the car will start but the clock goes to --:--. It happens several times a week. The car just had it's 90K service last week, which didn't help the problem and, of course, the car started fine for them. It does not seem to be the same experience I had when the battery was dead, so if someone know what's going on, I'd appreciate it.
