Front suspension swaying Volvo 850

Post by redrider_64 »

My 1994 850 Turbo is swaying side to side at highway speeds. I just finished installing new struts -control arms-sway bar links - tie rod ends. I also had the rack & pinion system reconditioned by a specialty shop. I also had 4 brand new tires put on today at Pep Boys and also had a complete wheel balance / alignment. Steering feels light and floaty. Really need guidance so I can get this car back to my daughter for school.

The cars have a passive rear steering component. Check the rear delta link bushings and the end links for deterioration and play.

Bad end links on my '94 had the same highway feel that you describe but it also "clunked" at the rear on low speed bumps.

They all have very sensitive steering, even when everything is correct.

Hey thanks makes sense as it did clunk this evening over a speed hump. I suppose making the front suspension so tight made the rear end jealous. 8)
